This programme is for students who wish to combine law and business in a single degree, to develop a skill-set appropriate to both business and law, as well as knowledge, skills and experience applicable in a wide variety of other careers. In particular, the programme enable student to proceed to training as lawyers or business professional in Ireland and elsewhere.
Beyond developing a very high level of personal competence in both fields, the degree seeks to produce graduate who will be reflective, ethical and responsible in using those abilities at work and in the community.
In particular, the learning environment assists students to develop the skills in research, analysis and advocacy that the law curriculum particularly provides and the numeracy, financial literacy and commercial awareness that are distinctive of business education. Students have diverse opportunities, notably through tutorials and small-group teaching to develop their skills in research, teamwork, oral and written communication and life skills for future employment.
Teaching, learning and assessment approaches include tutorials, legal writing and research exercises, advocacy and mooting, seminars, work placements, case studies, simulations of professional and business practice service learning and company projects.
Students must take five Business Core modules, one Business Option module and six Law Option modules.
Students must select a minimum of 4 Business Modules (2 Core and 2 Option) and 4 Law Modules. Students may select their remaining modules from either Business or Law.
