Students are brought to a high level of language proficiency and cultural sensitivity. While the European options focus on language, literature and culture, the Chinese option encompasses Chinese language, culture, politics, law and society.

On applying to BCIT you will select two languages to study, choosing from Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish. With the exception of French (please review French language requirements), you have the option to study these languages from beginner level.

At the end of the first semester students choose one of the two options to pursue as their language minor for the remainder of the programme.

“Choosing UCD was an obvious choice for me given its strong academics and large international student body. During my time at UCD I have been able to shape my educational experience through studying a comprehensive business curriculum in conjunction with my passion for foreign languages. UCD enabled me to put my foreign language skills to the test by studying in Valencia, Spain for one academic year strengthening my linguistic and communication skills. I have found commerce international both rewarding and challenging as UCD has pushed me as a business student and as a member of a global society.”
