Detailed Information
Do you want to understand and enhance your personal competencies for learning? Do you want to succeed at college? This module will help you superpower your learning by actively developing 8 competencies that all humans possess. These are memory, critical and creative thinking (CCT), self-regulation, motivation, engagement, mindfulness, identity, and morality. Each week you will be introduced to a new core competency then work in small groups to develop those competencies in yourself through simulation games, quizzes, debates and problem solving.
These competencies lie at the heart of human learning: our unique ability to learn complex things rapidly and intensely, with profound impact on our psychology and behaviour. However, often we are learning in the dark, lacking conscious control over how or why we learn. By harnessing recent advances in the psychology of learning and underpinning these with philosophy and ethics, we can begin to master our learning competencies whilst retaining a moral perspective on who we are within college and society.
