Detailed Information
This course introduces students to issues of staging dramatic texts. Key issues examined are: the role of the body in performance; the expressive and communicate power and use of gesture; and the role of space in reading and staging performance. Students are invited, through experiential leaning methods, to consider how these performing aspects can be tested through short scenes of improvisation. The module also examines the building of character for performance with reference to theories of Michael Chekhov. The course has a practical focus and students will be invited to research and stage micro-sequences from selected play texts.
