LING10030 - Sounds in Language* (Audit) - 2017

This module introduces the area of Linguistics that deals with the description and classification of the sounds found in human languages - Articulatory Phonetics - and the related area that deals with the structure of sound systems in languages, i.e. the distribution, patterning and interaction of sounds in natural (human) language - Phonology. Data from a number of languages are analysed and cross-linguistic generalisations established. The acquisition of the sound system (child phonology) is also looked at.

Upgrading from audit to credit:  You may upgrade from being an audit student to a credit student up to three weeks into term. Please note, however, that you can't change back to being an audit student - if you decide not to complete the assignments and/or sit the exams, this will appear on your academic record.
