Event: HWB161716 - Communicate Effectively with Teenagers
Subject:
Event Overview: Being able to influence your teenager during the teenage years, when there are so many other influences coming in, is a key concern and priority for a lot of parents. We cannot influence someone that we don’t have a relationship with. Communication is key for that relationship and this new stage requires a new approach. We are less of a ‘manager’ of them and their lives and move to a coaching style of interaction which maintains the relationship and allows them to develop thinking and life skills.
Event Objectives: • To look at what we can expect during these years.
• Explore ways in which we can parent and influence whilst building and maintaining the relationship rather than at the expense of it
Event Content: • What’s normal? Coaching Style of Parenting, Different Children Different Needs – knowing and understanding their style, your style and the dynamic between the two. Practical tips and suggestions which other parents have found to be effective.
