| THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT CAREER EVENT THIS YEAR FOR PHDS/ POSTDOCS. This event is specifically for PhDs and Postdocs to network/ build relationships with funding agencies and companies/ organisations who recruit PhDs/ Postdocs for transition to industry schemes for researchers, for R&D jobs and for transferable skills roles. It is an information and networking session (not a career fair) designed so that you can learn more about the opportunities available to you across sectors when you have a PhD - including through liaising with industry for academic purposes. It is also for building relationships with ex-Postdocs/ PhDs who now work in these agencies/ companies so you can learn more about various career paths for yourself. | |
| Format of afternoon • 1pm - 2pm: Set-up for companies and agencies, light networking lunch • 2pm - 3pm: UCD Research Careers welcome, flash-presentations from funding agencies about relevant enterprise-partnership calls and from companies/ organisations who would like to make themselves known to the larger group • 3pm onwards: networking and light refreshments in stands-area. The funding agencies will also have pop-up stands and remain to answer specific questions companies/ organisations and candidates might have Places are limited and registration will close for PhDs and Postdocs on Mon 15th May. | |
| Preparation We have asked the funding agencies/ companies to register so that we can compile a booklet for attendees prior to coming along. That way you can focus on who you would like to speak to on the day. In return, you will be send a pre-session questionnaire a week before the event so we can share high-level anonymous information with the people coming so they know what to expect. COMPLETING THIS PRE-SESSION QUESTIONNAIRE WILL CONFIRM YOUR PLACE AT THE EVENT SO MAKE SURE YOU GET IT.
