Long Description: The UCD Foundation for Italian Studies has promoted Italian studies in UCD since its establishment in 1980. This Scholarship
will complement its traditional contributions, namely academic publishing, public lectures and other cultural events, with a novel
initiative aimed at encouraging the study of Italian at postgraduate level. This partial fee Scholarship will be awarded for one year to a student of proven academic excellence to pursue postgraduate studies at MA / MLitt or PhD level in the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics with a specialisation in Italian Studies.

In order to be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must have an offer for an MA/MLitt or PhD degree programme from the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. In addition, candidates should submit both a hard copy and an electronic copy of their application including the following:
a) an application letter detailing their eligibility for the Scholarship;
b) a short (max 2,000 words) personal statement indicating their research topic of interest for a minor MA thesis or, in the case of an MLitt, a description of their research project;

c) references from two academic referees.

Candidates should submit their applications to the Director of the UCD Foundation for Italian Studies, UCD School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, italianfoundation@ucd.ie . Completed applications must be submitted by the end of June of the year in which applicants plan to start their postgraduate degree. The scholarship will be advertised on the Website of the School.
