Title:	UCD Maeve Binchy Travel Award

Long Description:	This award is to commemorate Maeve Binchy and her love of travel and world-wide celebrated creative writing. The award, to the value of €4,000 , will be presented annually, and will provide the opportunity for the recipient to travel to enhance his/her creative writing. The award is sponsored by a generous donor. Eligibility: Students (undergraduate and postgraduate) registered to modules and/or programmes offered by the UCD College of Arts and Celtic Studies will be eligible to apply. The application process for the award is as follows: • Applications in the form of a one-page document (strict maximum of one-page) outlining the reason for application for the award and the project/activity to be funded by the award, accompanied by a short curriculum vitae (maximum of two pages), are to be submitted by the relevant closing date. • Applicants may also include a sample piece of original writing (maximum of one page) with the application. For 2015-16, potential candidates are invited to submit applications via email to binchyucdtravelaward@ucd.ie. The closing deadline for receipt of complete applications is by no later than 3 April 2015. The award will be made on the grounds that the successful recipient: • Undertake the proposed travel associated with the award by no later than 31 December in the year of award. • Provide a detailed written report subsequent to travel, outlining the main achievements and learning during her/his travel and examples of her/his creative writing influenced by the travel project/activity. • Provide full receipts for the relevant expenditure, for reimbursement subsequent to travel.
