Title: The ISCP Student Research Prize (Professional Masters)
Award Type: Prize
Programme Description:
Long Description: To emphasise the importance of research in the physiotherapy profession and to encourage future research, the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists established the Student Research Prize in 2000.

The Irish Society of Chartered physiotherapists awards a Student Research prize to each Physiotherapy programme in Ireland. This is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall mark in the final year research project or proposal in each pre-registration physiotherapy programme in Ireland in all of the Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) that provide physiotherapy education in Ireland.

This prize has existed for the BSc Physiotherapy Programme since 2000 and is called ‘ISCP Prize for Highest Dissertation Mark’.

UCD began a new 2 year graduate entry Physiotherapy programme in 2012 called the Professional Masters in Physiotherapy Programme. This proposal is to introduce this award for the Professional Masters in Physiotherapy Programme.

In light of changes and developments in physiotherapy education, and following a consultation with the HEIs, the Board of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists reviewed its Student Awards criteria in 2019. The revised criteria are outlined below and now include Master level pre-registration physiotherapy programmes. Until 2012, Physiotherapy entry to practice programmes were at BSc level. Since 2012, there are also a number of Master level entry to practice programmes, (, UCD, UCC, UL; known professionally as Master level pre-registration programmes)

This is an external prize. UCD’s role in the process is to determine which student is awarded the prize. The decision is made by UCD.
