Immediate Care Trauma Course Overview This course equips the participant to manage trauma related life-threatening emergencies in a pre-hospital setting. The course content is a mixture of sessions dealing with the principles of management of serious trauma and participation on a range of skill stations. Much of the day is spent on skill stations allowing sufficient time for hands-on practice of skills and familiarisation with the equipment needed to manage and stabilise a trauma patient. The course is planned around road traffic accident procedures, planning and preparation. Concepts learned in this module are applicable to any trauma situation. The course will focus on practical skills such as: • Dealing with head injuries and the multi-system trauma victim • Primary and secondary patient surveys • Spinal Immobilisation • Airway management in a trauma patient • Fluid resuscitation • Close teamwork with the emergency services PLEASE NOTE THAT A COURSE SPECIFIC TO TURF CLUB DOCTORS MAY BE LISTED ON THE WEBSITE.
