Course Overview:

The aim of this course is to offer clinicians, Doctors , Nurses, Advanced paramedics the opportunity to become more confident and competent in dealing with serious paediatric emergencies in the pre-hospital environment. The format of the day is a combination of lectures, skills stations, workshops and small group scenarios.

Topics include:

BLS/choking
Airway and ventilation
Pain management
Paediatric calculations
Management of anaphylaxis

There is a strong focus on hands on skills practice. Individual feedback will be based on ongoing assessment and an MCQ based on the course content delivered on the day. The clinical practice guidelines published by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council will provide core background material for the day.

PRE COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
None, but it is recommended that all candidates have current BLS certification.

CPD ACCREDITATION:
This course is approved for 7 CPD points by the ICGP and by the ABA for Cat 1 course
