This module aims to provide students with a foundation in the legal and commercial issues underpinning aircraft financing. On completing this module, students will have an understanding of the most commonly used aircraft financing structures, the legal and commercial documents supporting these structures, the roles of the various transactional parties within these structures, and the regulatory and legal framework governing aircraft financing.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should have a good understanding of the following:
1. Sale and purchase of aircraft and associated transaction documents;
2. Operating leasing market and the lease agreement, loan documentation, export credit supported financing, capital markets products, and taking security in aircraft financing transactions;
3. Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol - scope, applicability and remedies;
4. Insolvency and restructuring law in the context of aircraft financing; and
5. Aviation insurances and aviation regulation.
