In this module participants will gain an appreciation for the theory and application of design thinking and industrial design in identifying, developing and implementing new products, services, and ventures. The module will cover the key principles and components of design and enable participants to use design thinking, industrial design principles and design language to create, critically discuss, write about, and present new business opportunities, products, processes and services, as well as ways to generate growth in an established business.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the module, students will be able to:
- Explain verbally and visually the components of a viable innovation model, focusing on idea management
- Compare and contrast artistic and design thinking with other ways of thinkingUse design methods for making a message compelling and memorable
- Use a variety of communication methods to facilitate problem solving, idea generation, service design, systems design and business model generation
