FIN41400 Green Business

Academic Year 2017/2018

The aim of this module is to help students understand, in both theory and practice, how businesses finance and manage green ventures in order to create shared value. Topics such as sustainable innovation, circular economy principles, natural capital, eco-design, eco-efficiency, place-based and community-led ventures will be explored. Lectures, case studies, discussions, readings and guest speakers will be used to develop knowledge and expose students to sustainable business principles and practices. Students will learn how to initiate, manage and implement an innovative green project by collaboratively working on a venture which will be written up and presented at the end of the semester. On-going presentations of each project’s progress feature prominently to help develop communications skills, judgement and teamwork.
