HRM40710 HR Management Research Project

Academic Year 2023/2024

The Master’s research report is intended to afford postgraduate students the
opportunity to address a complex business issue from a HR perspective. They will design and undertake
an individual piece of research, taking responsibility of their learning process and gaining an in-depth
understanding of a particular area of human resource management. Students will select a topic enabling them to investigate and diagnose an HR issue within an organisation. To this end, they will design and undertake their research demonstrating a goodunderstanding of the issue being investigated and knowledge of relevant literature and theories. They will adopt a methodology which is appropriate for investigating the issue; explain this choice; obtain and analyse relevant primary and secondary data; show a critical evaluative approach and draw relevant and supportable conclusions. Moreover, as the objective of this module is to enable students to research a
practical or real-life HR issue, whereby a particular HR problem is observed and examined, the research
report will also include HR policy recommendations.
