BMGT45240 Contemp Topics in Org.Behavior

Academic Year 2018/2019

The success of an organisation depends to a large extent on people and how they can be motivated and managed to leverage their full potential. Organisational Behaviour is about understanding how individuals, leaders, and teams in organisations behave, interpret events, and react. This module offers in-depth insights into contemporary topics of Organisational Behaviour by examining the nature of individual and team behaviours in work environments and by discussing how behaviours, emotions, and cognitions affect performance. After an introductory session about the basics of Organisational Behaviour and the development of this management field, the module will discuss and explore different topics at the individual, the team, and the organisational level in class. Specifically, the module concentrates on topics related to motivation, team work, leadership and power, and organisational communication and culture.
Participants are encouraged to explore the interconnected nature of the various topics to be covered and to develop a holistic and critical understanding of the subject. A variety of different teaching and learning methods will be applied (e.g., presentations, case studies, reflective exercises) and participants are expected to be actively involved in classes.
