BMGT43950 Organisational Renewal

Academic Year 2016/2017

In today's business environment, market-leading organizations must know how to innovate, adjust quickly to new business conditions, and seize emerging opportunities before competitors do. At the same time, they must also learn to recognise and manage the signs of business decline, using clear strategies to mitigate the impact of declining performance and to minimise its duration. In this Organizational Renewal module, we will use a balance of theory and practice to examine the theory behind the ongoing cycle of business decline and renewal, helping participants to understand, appreciate and identify the symptoms and underlying causes of business decline. Analyzing the successes and failures of real-life companies, we will look at strategies used to turn failing businesses around and rebuild competitive strength. The module will consist of a combination of case studies, in-class presentations, lectures, and project work.
