MKT42050 Digital Technology and Design

Digital marketing is increasing becoming a technology driven field where advances in audio & video imaging, mobile devices, data analytics and cloud computing are driving new means of communicating and understanding consumer behaviour. As a result of this digital marketers need to understand the key technology trends influencing digital marketing including; response design for modern internet browsers, creating applications for mobile phones, harnessing cloud computing platforms, social media monitoring and analysis.
The objective of this module is two-fold.; firstly to introduce students to the technological designs and implementations behind Search, Web, Social and Mobile marketing. Second is to for students to gain first-hand experience with these technologies through building prototypes and evaluating case studies of existing products and services.

At the end of this module, students will have a good understanding of the following technologies:

• Crawling, Indexing and Serving / Ad Serving and Ad Exchanges (Supply Side and Demand Side)/ Pre-Emptive search
• Browsers & HTML5 / Content Distribution Networks/ Media Compression and Playback
• Social technology : Recommender systems/ Reputation scores/ ML data analysis
• Mobile and Cloud Technology Intro to iOS, Android / Mobile App construction....
