BMGT45140 Creative Problem Solving in Organisations

Academic Year 2023/2024

Creativity is the foundation of innovation, and innovation is critical for organisations to continually meet the needs of society and to compete in a global marketplace.

This module is designed to develop participants’ creative problem-solving skills in workplace contexts that require both originality and utility. Participants will develop their ability to organise and lead for creative solutions, and to explore their own creative solutions to problems ranging from internal change and process improvements, to creation of new products and development of new markets.

In this highly interactive and experiential module, much of the class time is devoted to hands-on application of a validated creative problem-solving technique. This practical foundation is combined with readings, cases, and classroom discussions that develop participants’ understanding of the leadership and organisational requirements needed for creativity and innovation more generally.
