This module provides an introduction to Artificial Intelligence, its history and foundations, and primary research directions. Students will gain an appreciation of how techniques from AI can be applied to solve problems in Business Analytics and beyond.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module students should be able to:
- Explain what is Artificial Intelligence and discuss its foundations
- Outline the primary research areas, including problem solving and search, reasoning, knowledge, planning, learning, perception, action and communication
- Apply AI algorithms to solve problems
- Design an experiment in AI
- Write an academic paper
