MIS30120 Advanced Web Development

This Web Development Course is an intense hands-on module using HTML5 and CSS3. Students will learn to hand-code HTML, CSS according to Web standards. This includes visual design, web-development , fluid and responsive layouts, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), accessibility and information architecture.
HTML5 and CSS3 are the new standards for creating powerful and rich web applications in a standards-compliant way. They are a significant development for building websites and web applications that are cross-platform and device capable. With CSS3, a student will learn how to have complete control of page layout but also more complex aspects including positioning, rounded corners and other cutting-edge techniques. Emphasis will be on techniques that make sites accessible to users and search engines.
This course also builds web sites that adapt to the different screen sizes and capabilities for mobile devices. Students will develop techniques so that their website is responsive, clean, and user-friendly on multiple devices and layouts.

Feedback for the mid-term test will be available to students within 2 week of test completion, Students can get feedback face-to-face directly after class or tutorials. Feedback will be provided to students directly after they present their website. Feedback on web journals will be provided during office hours after completion of assignment.
