On completion of this module you should be able to:
• Explain the concept of strategic HRM and how it relates to organisational performance.
• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the challenges and responsibilities faced by organisations throughout the employee life cycle, including recruitment and selection, human resource development, performance management and rewards, and downsizing.
• Understand why, when and how organisations should seek to enhance employee retention.
• Understand the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and why this might be important for organisations today.
• Understand and articulate the main position and trends in HRM theory and understand their impact on current practice.
