BMGT3021D Entrepreneurship and Innovation

This course will examine and discuss the processes and the issues involved in newventure creation. The course is based on the premise that there is a very identifiableprocess involved in setting up a new business, that it is possible to think your waythrough the process, to manage the process in an active way and to develop a firstclass Business Plan for a New Venture. The course will help you to explore your ownentrepreneurial abilities and will encourage this entrepreneurial behaviour in yourbusiness career. This behaviour may reflect action in the role of independent orcorporate entrepreneurship, the repositioning of a family firm or, working as asupport agent in a bank or public agency promoting enterprise. The module providesfor the blending of its theory and practice contents with the collective workplaceexperiences of the participants, to this end participants will be expected to contributecritical reflection on their workplace experiences along with collaborativeinterpretation of such experiences in both classroom and study group settings.Advance preparation for classes and workshops will be an important feature, withreadings and questions for reflection assigned at the commencement of the trimester.
