MIS3007L Digital Business and Social Media Strategy

This module is a strategic-level course in planning and implementing e-commerce ventures, covering topics ranging from the underlying technological infrastructure to suitable business models and business planning techniques. Case studies are used throughout the module to present the strengths and
weaknesses of various projects. Consideration is given to the changing technological and commercial environment, including new developments in mobile and location based systems, with a view to proposing and assessing new business opportunities.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module the student should be able to:
- Understand and elicit how e-commerce technology works and should be applied
- Present an organised planning approach to the development and exploitation of a business opportunity in the e-commerce domain
- Develop a business plan for an e-commerce idea to address product development, sales and marketing, implementation and financial operations
- Objectively evaluate the potential for success of a business idea in the e-commerce domain
- Understand and critically assess the commercial opportunities and threats arising from changing e-commerce infrastructure and new technologies such as mobile.
