BMGT10190 Effective Learning and Development

Academic Year 2023/2024

You are at the beginning of your degree and have an opportunity now to create and build experiences that will stand to you for your lifelong career. Effective Learning and Development (ELD) will help you recognise opportunities for development in your life.

You will explore skills in two blocks:
(1) setting goals, evaluating resources, thinking critically, expressing yourself verbally and in writing, and then
(2) managing your time, understanding mindsets, empathy and resilience, exploring learning preferences and presenting a CV.
The skills that you explore in ELD are not limited in their application to this module, those skills are transferable into other modules and your life outside of university.

ELD is the foundational module which will converge into the Personal Development Portfolio (BMGT30460) in your final year. Evidence is key to evaluate change and this module will introduce you to Brightspace’s ePortfolio which will allow you to document your learning, to collect insights and reflections throughout your studies.
