Strategy addresses the central issues faced by managers when striving to ensure long-term viability of their organisations. This module introduces students to the principles and tools of strategic analysis before applying them to the key issues in competitive and corporate strategy. We will analyse the external and internal environments of various organisations, identify the sources of the organisations' competitive advantage and explain the scope of their businesses. We will also examine the frameworks and concepts available to managers when developing, implementing, and assessing strategies.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module you should be able to:
1. Understand and draw on the concepts and tools of strategy to analyse (a) the internal and external environments of a firm, (b) the key sources of the firm's competitive advantage, and (c) its corporate strategy;
2. Develop potential future strategies;
3. Assess how well a firm's strategy is working while considering its various stakeholders;
4. Appreciate the importance of organising the business for the successful execution of strategy.
