This module is aimed at increasing the student's capacity to evaluate research, in terms of its methods and application to practice. The module will encourage the student's to critically analyse research methods and results, and understand the importance of evidence based methodolgies in the veterinary nursing practice.
The module will require the student to research and report on a topic of relevance to veterinary nursing. This is primarily a module where students are required to be self-motivated and complete the workload in their own time.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students will have developed crucial employment related skills such as :

-The ability to identify research evidence in the literature concerning an aspect of clinical practice and relate the evidence to current practice
- The ability to critically analyse the evidence base for an area of practice and make recommendations as to how this could be development or changed
- The ability to regulate and direct their own learning.
- The ability to manage their time effectively and set out goal orientated plans
- The ability to effectively communicate information to colleagues, both through a written report, and orally through a presentation

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Throughout this module, a number of strategies are used to help learning.

Group based activities, discussion based learning, one-on-one discussions and lecture time. Online tutorials and video resources are also used.

• Feedback individually to students, on an activity or draft prior to summative assessment

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Feedback is provided individually in response to submission of a one page draft of the literature review. Individual feedback will also be given to students based on their draft, in January, in advance of final submission.
