This module builds upon the topics covered in SMGT 10100 Theory of Coaching I.

The purpose of this course is to acquire a critical appreciation of coaching science and how this can inform coaching practice, coach development and coach education. The content delivered throughout this module is designed to challenge students to evaluate and critique the coaching literature. Throughout the module students will be required to contribute to class discussions and peer learning.

Some of the topics that will be covered within this module are:
-mentoring as a development tool for coaching
-coach burnout
-care in coaching
-high performance coaching

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should be able to:

- Identify and critically evaluate current coach education practices
- Awareness of differing ontological positions on learning in coaching
- Discuss education based learning theories that could underpin coach learning
- Develop coaching practices that are underpinned by theory
- Review and critique coaching practice based upon current literature
- Present and critique coaching research

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module will be delivered through a variety of formats for optimal student engagement. Students are required to actively engage within their learning, this will be in the format of class contributions, peer learning, presentations and groups discussions. Opportunities will be given to students to choose some content that can be covered, affording autonomy over their learning.

Lectures will be delivered through a mixture of live online lectures and pre recorded lectures. There will be activities imbedded on bright space including quizzes, forums and surveys students will be expected to complete.
