As you continue your examination of leadership and your personal leadership development journey, this module explores leadership at an organisational level – which is termed the systems dimension.

You will be given frameworks for understanding how organisations function from a systemic perspective and explore the impact of systemic factors on leadership. You will participate in a range of group experiences over both days which will serve to reinforce the learning from the theory and feedback.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module you will:

• Have a good understanding of the organisation as a whole system;
• Understand the systemic factors influencing how organisations function;
• Be able to analyse the impact of organisation systems on group dynamics;
• Understand the implications of systemic organisations factors on leadership;
• Articulate and apply different ways of leading organisational change.
• Gain insight into organisational culture and how it shapes and influences leaders;

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The module has a detailed study guide. Students are required to complete the module pre-reading or pre-work prior to attending the seminar sessions. The sessions themselves will be a combination of lectures, group discussion, in-class presentations, case study discussions and classroom exercises. A heavy emphasis in the seminars is on teasing out the implications of theory for practical application in a workplace context
