1. Knowledge Outcomes:
Students will be expected to:
a) evaluate the benefits and limitations of a range of breast imaging techniques in Irish healthcare
b) analyse and discuss the different approaches to breast imaging in the context of symptomatic and asymptomatic
presentations/services
c) determine the appropriate application of these techniques for different pathologies and patient presentations.
d) discuss the role of the radiographer in optimising breast imaging from patient preparation, imaging modality, imaging
technique, QA/QC and radiation safety, always keeping the needs of the patient central to these themes.
e) to evaluate the role of the radiographer in supporting the patient through the imaging aspects of the breast cancer
diagnostic pathway
