PSY40630 Advanced Quantitative Design

This module is designed for graduate research students in psychology who are developing their quantitative and statistical skills to an advanced level. The focus of the module will be on acquiring the methodological and statistical skills necessary to complete an advanced research project of publishable quality. Teaching methods will include seminars and computer laboratories. Statistical packages used include SPSS and AMOS.

Students who have completed this module should be able to choose the most appropriate methodological technique or statistical procedure for their research project and demonstrate skill in the use of that method and interpretation. Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
fewer longer sessions, with a small supportive group, allows for in-depth discussion of analysis techniques and issues of relevance to the students' own research. Hands on skills based examples are used so students can try for themselves as the topic is covered.

This is an advanced statistics module and is only suitable for students who have taken statistics modules in the behavioural sciences at an undergraduate level.
