PSY40580 Foundations in Mindfulness

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module will inform students about the history & evolution of psychological interventions for emotional & psychiatric disorders. It will address the emerging field of third wave psychological interventions and positive psychology. This module will focus on the Buddhist background to clinical MBSR/MBCT interventions. The student will be introduced to theoretical and experiential understanding or psychological group process.

Learning Outcomes:

Enhanced understanding of the history and evolution of mindfulness based interventions.An advanced knowledge of third wave psychological interventions, particularly MBSR and MBCTA grounding in the use of mindfulness based intervention in the treatment of emotional and psychiatric disorders
