PSY40510 Advanced Psychology Skills

Academic Year 2019/2020

This module will support postgraduate students to develop advanced skills associated with their research. Examples include psychometric assessment, specialised technical skills, and new research methodologies. Students registering for this module will be required to identify skills relevant to their research/study (as agreed with their supervisor) and document the process involved in developing these skills. Finally they must make a presentation to students and staff in the School of Psychology on issues in their chosen area of training.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students will be able to;1. Perform advanced research skills, 2. Document the development of these skills, 3. Identify and present on the key issues in this area.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This is a self-directed module. Students work with their thesis supervisor and DSP to identify an advanced skill relevant to their postgraduate research and develop a plan of activities to support the development of the skill. The written assignment encourages reflection on the process.
