POL41980 Peace & Conflict Studies

Academic Year 2021/2022

This module examines the causes, consequences, and resolution of armed conflict. It engages with central concepts in peace and conflict research and equips students to analyze existing social scientific research in this area. As a field seminar, the module will survey several major topics and debates in peace and conflict research in order to provide a foundation for further study. Students will be asked to read and discuss contemporary peace scholarship and produce an original piece of theoretically-informed research. Class sessions will not feature lectures so students will be expected to complete the reading every week and be prepared to discuss it in detail in each session.
