This module continues the professional development of physiotherapists commenced in previous modules core to the curriculum including Professional Practice 1, 2 and 3. This module will progress physiotherapists towards the level of professional competency necessary for contemporary practice. It will explore the physical and psychological manifestations of illness consolidating and enhancing the learning achieved in cores areas. This module will explore and develop the concept of leadership in physiotherapy. The implications of psychiatric illness in patients in terms of physiotherapy practice will be explored. This module will assist students to develop their curriculum vitae and prepare for competency based interviews. Professional issues which arise during practice will also be examined. Students will participate in an inter professional learning opportunity (research conference) with their colleagues in dietetics.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module the students will be able to: 1.Synthesis assessment findings and critically evaluate interventions for individuals with complex musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory, and neurological conditions against a background of evidenced based practice. 2.Systematically examine the complexity of differing patient presentations with an awareness of the possibility of psychiatric illness. 3.Critically appraise the impact of professional issues which may arise during their career.5. Develop the concept of leadership and the skills to lead change in physiotherapy. 6 . Prepare a CV and prepare to undertake a competency based interviews. 7. Better understand the professional role of their dietetics colleagues.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The approaches to teaching and learning vary in this module from year to year. This module is very much driven by student identified learning needs which commonly reflect the health, economic and political climate.
Currently the module is composed of some lectures, practical hands on skills sessions in preparation for completion of the physiotherapy programme and group based work where students develop learning materials for their colleagues. The student will have participate in an interdisciplinary research conference with dietetics colleagues.
