By the end of the course, students should be able to exhibit detailed critical understanding of some key texts in the recent philosophical discussion of emotion and develop their own lines of response to these texts. They should be able to present this orally. They should also be able to produce to a professional standard a scholarly, cogent, well-argued and independent philosophical treatment of some questions of central concern in the philosophy of emotion.
Indicative Module Content:William James; Feelings; Cognitivism; Perceptualism; Emotions and Moral Development; Shame, pride, grief, anger and fear.
