PERS30250 Case Study in Sports Science

Academic Year 2020/2021

The aim of this module is to provide the student with an opportunity to put into practice the skills and competencies they acquired throughout their programme of study to date. To do so, they will nominate either an individual or a group of athletes (team) with a view to providing them with a program of sport science support. Students will design an exercise intervention that is tailored to the needs of the specific individual/group under consideration. The module will be mostly practical, with two formal frontal lectures. The majority of the time, students will work in the field developing, implementing and evaluating the training programme they have devised. Students are expected to meet with the module coordinator and/or tutors as they progress through the term to discuss their ideas and receive formative feedback on their case-study, on an on-going basis.
