MUS50030 Teaching Practice 1

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module may be taken by PhD students who are working as tutors or occasional lecturers in the School of Music. Students who take this module for credit will gain practical experience teaching tutorials and/or lectures to undergraduates. The module also consists of close mentoring with a member of the academic staff. Through self-assessment, discussion, and practice, students registered for this module will reflect critically on the pedagogical tools and strategies necessary for university teaching.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students will have:
- gained practical experience teaching undergraduate students in either tutorials or lectures.
- amassed a set of class plans and/or prepared lectures for future teaching.
- acquired pedagogical tools and strategies necessary for strong undergraduate teaching by working closely with their academic mentor.
