MIS29060 Augmented Reality (AR) in Business

Immersive technologies, such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) allow users to move from real to virtual experience offering new ways of media interaction and consumption. This module investigates both theoretical and applied AR-related topics with emphasis on identifying and designing feasible AR applications helping organisations to gain and sustain competitive advantage. Students follow the generic business application development life cycle discussing project inception, feasibility studies, implementation, and project validation in order to identify and propose viable AR applications for various industry sectors, such as travel and tourism, advertising & marketing, art and education.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Applied module based around interactive workshops/tutorials which are supported by face-to-face and online lectures. Lectures are designed to cover theoretical aspects of AR in the context of commercialising business opportunities.
