MICR30070 Skills in Microbiology

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module is designed to begin to train students in basic microbiology skills. Students will learn how to search for, gather, and assimilate scientific information. Student will then write a scientific overview of the information gathered, which should demonstrate an appropriate level of comprehension. Each student will deliver an oral presentation summarizing the main findings of their literature review.

- Search for and gather information from the scientific literature, read a scientific paper and describe the information
- Prepare a document based on this information using scientific language and style and deliver the major findings of the survey in an oral presentation

The module is a combination of group presentations, continuous assessment, and a research essay. Group presentations are commented on in the class and feedback for the continuous assessment and essays will be provided upon request once the results are posted.
