LLC10010 Lang, Ling & Cultures Stage 1

Academic Year 2020/2021

The purpose of the module is to display the commonalities and the differences arising between the many disciplines taught throughout the whole LLC programme and show the students how these disciplines interrelate and how the same concepts concepts can be tackled using different perspectives (through linguistics, languages, literature, etc.)

The module will be built in particular around four specific themes which are considered as central to the programme:
- Culture and identity
- Text analysis
- Folklore and history
- Literature

Learning Outcomes:

- Acquire general and more specific knowledge around cultures and languages
- Examine critically a text
- Reflect on the notion of culture and identity

Indicative Module Content:

The module will be structured around three-week blocks taught by each School involved in the Programme.
Every school will offer an original and creative perspective around the four themes mentioned previously.
