This module will introduce students to the key principles of sales law in Singapore. In particular it will examine the definition of the contract of sale; the passage of risk and property; implied terms as to quality, description and sample; title disputes and the remedies available to both buyer and seller. The module will conclude with a brief examination on financing of sales contracts including retention of title and the creation of security over personal property.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this module students will be able to:
(a) Distinguish a contract of the sale of goods from other commonly encountered contracts;
(b) Identify common legal problems encountered in the sale of goods;
(c) Identify the rationale behind the rules of law encountered in the module;
(d) Apply the Sale of Goods Act to a range of practical scenarios.
