LARC10120 Plants&Landscape Architecture

Academic Year 2023/2024

Plant knowledge and the ability to select and incorporate plants into the design process is fundamental to landscape architecture practice. This module provides an introduction to a range of topics related to plants and planting design. Via site visits, students are brought into contact with a range of designed landscapes and given an overview of plant categories, plant classification and basic botanical principles to assist in plant identification. Students are introduced to the basic horticultural practices as well as ecological issues relating to planting design and the implementation of planting schemes. This module includes regular plant identification tests.
