IS40750 Digital Curation Tools

This module is designed to build on knowledge learned from IS 40630: DIgital curation: Core concepts. We will further explore digital curation via weekly labs acitivities.
Students are required to bring a laptop computer running windows or mac OSX operating system to ALL lecture meetings. A smartphone or tablet is not an acceptable substitute. If students do not bring a laptop metting requirements they will be considered unprepared for class and asked to leave.

Note: This module is for students registered in the MLIS, GradDip in Library science, grad Cert, Prof Cert, Msc and GradDip in Digital curation, Msc and GradDip in Information Systems ONLY.

Learning Outcomes:

Learning OutcomesOn completion of this module students should be able to: 1. Recommend appropriate standards and actions for maintaining digital material.2. Prioritize action and intervention related to digital material.3. Describe the key tools used in digital curation practice and how they can best be implemented.4. Develop and apply policies for associated stages of the digital curation lifecycle.5. Compare, contrast and utilize tools to address each stage of the digital curation lifecycle.6. Manage different aspects of a digital curation project.
