Information studies, by and large, is concerned with developing, managing, and providing access to information resources, representing and organising information, and deploying information technologies in effective and innovative ways. In this module, we will take a socio-technical approach to understand the broad range of topics, issues, and methodologies in information research.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should have an understanding of (a) the theoretical foundations and the interdisciplinary nature of information studies, (b) the importance of taking socio-technical and user-centred approaches to studying information and communication technologies (ICTs), and (c) the approaches used in information research.
