IS20030 Contextual Design Inquiry in Organisations

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module examines information systems and the social context of information and communication in organisations. Consideration will be given to information systems requirements and design, information processes and flows in organisations, and the character of formal information systems and informal communication patterns. Particular emphasis will be placed on contextual design principles of contextual inquiry and communication in computer-mediated communication and computer-supported cooperative work.

• Identify the limits of information systems in organisations
• Assess information and communication requirements in an organisation
• Provide a socio-technical analysis of information and communication practices in organisations.
