This module introduces the student to effective administration, an integral skillset for success in the modern workplace. Effective administration involves the efficient organisation of people, information, technological supports and other resources to achieve organisational objectives. The module examines the technical skills, human skills and conceptual skills necessary to bring added value to an organisation. It equips students for the challenges he or she will meet in the course of a career in a public or private sector organisation.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, the learner will be able to:

1 Demonstrate a critical awareness and understanding of the most important concepts involved in the formulation and implementation of effective administration.

2 Understand how such concepts integrate a range of disciplines, skills and functions to enable a whole-of-organisation perspective to be arrived at.

3 Have knowledge and insight into principal theories of organisational structure, development, and management, and critically evaluate their application to key administrative functions

4 Apply appropriate administrative and organisational skills in a variety of settings, including working remotely and online.

5 Demonstrate high-level group interaction, technological and problem-solving skills to develop appropriate administrative strategies to meet stakeholder interest in a changing context.
