This module focuses on developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for entering today’s workforce so that students can be the best possible professionals in the global sphere.
Emphasis will be placed on developing students’ cultural intelligence, which is a crucial skillset in contemporary global workplaces. Students will learn what it means to be a global and interconnected citizen. The module trains students in using the communication skills necessary to interact successfully with co-workers, clients and customers from diverse cultures and countries who have been shaped by different values, experiences and beliefs. They will also learn how to be culturally well equipped to work and lead in diverse workplaces and how to systematically approach global challenges.

Learning Outcomes:

1 Demonstrate cultural self-awareness through critically reflecting on their perceptions of culture and identity, and their own cultural lenses.

2 Identify and demonstrate strategies to culturally communicate with those from diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.

3 Critically analyse and apply models, frameworks and theoretical perspectives related to global citizenship and cultural intelligence, at a personal and professional level.

4 Critically discuss and compare leadership skills through a variety of global perspectives and identify strategies to both work collaboratively in, and lead culturally diverse teams.

5 Collaborate both professionally and socially across cultures and disciplines to maximise professionalism in the global sphere.

6 Utilise research tools and techniques of enquiry to explore cultural intelligence and global citizenship in the workplace.
