IA40250 Entrepreneurship for Social Good

Academic Year 2020/2021

This module has been developed to expose students to the world of Social Entrepreneurship. Participants will explore social entrepreneurship through conversations with social entrepreneurs, hands-on activities, and an exciting fast-paced intensive challenge - the results of which will be presented on the final day of the module. Students will then apply what they learn over the course of the week in considering potential for Social Entrepreneurship ventures or initiatives in their own context.

Throughout the module, students will develop their skills in research, innovation, evaluation and communication in exploring the motivation for and development of social ventures, and establishing how to evaluate and sustain them; both within and outside their immediate discipline/area of expertise.

The overall aim of this module are to enable students identify, develop, evaluate and initiate potential Social Entrepreneurial projects, initiatives and ventures.

UCD Innovation Academy

At the UCD Innovation Academy we take an action-oriented approach to learning. We are a group of Educator Practitioners with extensive real-world experience as academics, business and social entrepreneurs, tech thinkers, creative professionals and design thinking practitioners. All of our teaching is grounded in academic rigor but our focus is on ‘learning by doing’ in a real-world context.

Students must pass each individual assessable component individually in order to be able to pass the module as a whole.

**Enrolment on an Innovation Academy module means a commitment to active participation and engagement, which necessitates attendance at scheduled classes (minimum 80% of scheduled classes must be attended, with certain key classes being required). **
